The Urbana University Branch Campus announced closure on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, and will cease enrollments at the end of the 2020 Spring Semester.

Accreditation
Urbana University is a branch campus of Franklin University.  Franklin University is accedited by the Higher learning Commission.

Are my credits considered regionally accredited, even if the branch campus is closed? 
Yes. All credits earned at the Urbana University Branch Campus are valid even after the branch campus has closed. Urbana University is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission through its association with Franklin University and credits will be considered for transfer by any other regionally accredited institution.

Will my degree from the Urbana University Branch Campus still be considered valuable?
Yes, your degree from the Urbana University Branch Campus is still valuable. It will be recognized by employers and other colleges/universities as a valid degree with full regional accreditation.

What will happen to my academic records after closure?
Academic records will be preserved and accessible after Urbana University Branch campus closes. Records will be transferred to Franklin University and can be accessed through the Franklin University Registrar's Office.

Transferring of Credit
The institution you transfer to will determine how many Urbana credits are accepted. All of your Urbana credits are regionally accredited. For students enrolled in programs that are not currently available online at Franklin, we have established teach-out plans with Capital University, Central State University, Wittenberg University and the University of Charleston (W. Va.) to provide a more seamless transfer and help you maximize your credit. 

Can I transfer into Franklin's online programs?
Franklin University will accept any Urbana University Branch Campus student who would like to transfer into an online version of their program at Franklin, at Franklin’s reduced tuition rate of $398 per credit hour. Students interested in this pathway should contact advising@franklin.edu for more information.

There is not an online version of my program offered at Franklin University. What are my options?
For students enrolled in programs that are not currently available online at Franklin, we have established teach-out plans with the following institutions to provide a more seamless transfer and help you maximize your credit. Academic Advisors are available to speak with students about completing their program through Franklin University or another university. Students can request an official transcript to aide in the transfer process, if needed.

Are there specific schools that I should consider transferring to?
Choosing which school you will transfer to is completely up to you. However, in order to help you maximize the value of the credits you have earned at Urbana University, we have signed major-specific transfer agreements with the following universities to assist students enrolled in the following Urbana majors: Education (Early Childhood, Middle Childhood, Adolescent to Young Adult and Intervention Specialist: Mild to Moderate teacher licensure areas), Environmental Science, Liberal Arts and Mathematics. 

Currently, the list of universities includes Capital University, Central State University, Wittenberg University and the University of Charleston (W. Va.). 

Will the partner transfer schools honor my UU scholarships? 
In addition to helping you maximize your transfer credit, these partner transfer schools have also expressed a willingness to extend supplemental financial aid opportunities and waiving transfer and application fees but will not carry over any scholarships you received at Urbana. 

What programs will be automatically transferred to Franklin University and will students in those programs need to apply to Franklin?
Students currently enrolled in the Urbana University Branch's College Credit Plus, Post-Baccalaureate Education, MBA-Healthcare, and London Correctional Institute certificate programs will be automatically transferred to Franklin University and will not need to re-apply to the program.

What if I need my Education Program Assessment records from the School of Education (i.e. Field hour logs, Stanford Test Scores)?
All School of Education students are able to download their Education Program Assessment records (i.e. Field hour logs, Stanford Test Scores) from Taskstream. Students will continue to have access to Taskstream. 

What if my transfer institution will only accept my Education Program Assessment records (i.e. Field hour logs, Stanford Test Scores) directly from my previous institution?

How/when will prospective students receive their deposit back?
During the week of May 4, we will be returning any deposits received for the 2020-21 academic year. We will issue refunds electronically for deposits submitted online and send checks for all other payment forms.

All students eligible to graduate at the end of spring 2020 semester were able to do so with all the same rights and privileges. In adherence to Ohio’s social distancing mandates, the customary in-person ceremony was adapted to a virtual event, hosted on Saturday, June 13 at 11 a.m. The ceremony can be accessed by clicking here >

If I qualify for Spring 2020 graduation, will I receive an Urbana Branch Campus diploma?
Yes, all Spring 2020 Urbana graduates will receive an Urbana Branch Campus diploma.

School of Education
The Urbana Branch Campus School of Education will suspend new enrollments and current bachelor's programs for the immediate future while the program is moved to Franklin University's Main Campus in Columbus Ohio. The Post-Bacc program will continue in fall 2020 as a fully online program. More information will be released about which licensure areas will be available through Franklin. 

Schools Accepting Urbana Transfer Students
Franklin University will accept any Urbana University Branch Campus student who would like to transfer into an online version of their program at Franklin. Students interested in this pathway should contact their academic advisor for more information. For students who would like to transfer elsewhere, campus officials are working to identify institutions similar to Urbana University to help our students through the transfer process. As soon as more information is available, details will be posted here.

Ohio Means Jobs is a repository of current open positions throughout the state of Ohio. OMJ was designed to give graduating students and people seeking employment a single place to complete elements of the job search and to apply for positions in the state. There are many employers seeking employees in many different industries. The Center for Career Development has compiled a list of employers that are seeking to hire immediately. The list is constantly updated and has employers with many different types of employment. That list can be found here.

In addition to the employers hiring now, we have many different tools and resources on the Career Development site that can help you navigate your job search. 

Career Development recommends that you work on your career social media just as much as your other social media. LinkedIn is a great tool to getting connected to over 85 million people and jobs. Columbus Native, Jeff Young, also known as, The LinkedIn Guru offers free videos and tutorials on how to setup your LinkedIn profile in a manner that will get you seen. 

Education Majors can locate jobs within the state of Ohio on the Ohio Department of Education website. There you’ll find jobs in districts throughout the state from full time to long term substitute positions, and more! All open positions can easily be located and filtered through.
